Lawrence Academy (Groton, Mass.) 2007 Winterim Program in Romania

In December of 2006, twelve students enrolled in a two week Winterim Program to take them to Romania from March 5 to 16, 2007. Accompanied by two faculty, Ms. Karen Bowley and Ms. Aida Campos-Nava, the group was welcomed by students and faculty at the Mihai Viteazul National College (high school) in Bucharest. They journeyed to Brasov, Bran in the Carpathian Mountains, and to Sibiu for a three day visit and folk traditions study sessions before returning to Bucharest.

The study theme for the group was “the learning of Romanian history as well as techniques to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to culture, customs and traditions.”

Upon their return the Winterim team presented its findings to the school along with teams returning from multiple sites and activities across the globe and the United States.
