Teodor Baconschi – Biographical Resume

He was sworn as Minister of Foreign Affairs on December 23, 2009.

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs was
Ambassador of Romania in the French Republic, the Principality of Monaco. Principality of Andorra (September 2007 – December 2009), Ambassador to the Portuguese Republic (2002 – 2004), Ambassador of Romania to the Holy See (Vatican City), accredited also in San Marino and near Sovereign Military Order of Malta (1999-2001).
He was Presidential Adviser on Political Department, Administration
Presidential in October 2006 – August 2007, and in Central
MFA has held positions of Secretary of State for Global Affairs
(January 2005 – September 2006) and CEO in 2001.

Prior to entry into diplomacy was Director of Publishing Anastasia
Bucharest, editor in chief of “spiritual life” (RTV), adviser to
Ministry of Culture and editor at the publishing house and Bible Institute
Mission of B.O.R.
He has published over 10 books in French and Romanian (as signature
author Theodore Baconsky) and speaks English, French and Italian.
He is a member affiliated with the International Association of Patristic Studies (AIEP, Paris), founding member of the Reflection Group for Renewal Church (Bucharest), member of the New Europe College (Bucharest) State of the GDSs (Bucharest).
I have been awarded the following prizes: Grand Cross of the Order
Equestrian Pius IX (Holy See), Grand Officer of the Order of St.
Agata / San Marino, Officer of National Order “Faithful Service
(Romania), Grand Officer of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity “, Sea Officer of National Order of Merit (Portugal).

He graduated from University Theological Institute, Bucharest in 1985, followed Advanced Studies at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne (1991), obtained a doctorate in Anthropology of Religion and Comparative History Religions at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne (1994) and studied Post-doctoral Fellow of the New Europe College, Bucharest (1996).

He was born on February 14, 1963 in Bucharest. He is married and has two children.
