Prince Charles spent the night at the Miclosoara mansion in the County of Covasna and took a ride on a horse-darn cart around the village during his private visit, on Wednesday morning, Mediafax reports.

During his private visit to Romania, on Tuesday night, Prince Charles arrived to the County of Covasna, at the Miclosoara mansion where he had been invited by Kalnoky Tibor.

At about 21 hours, the prince was seen to take a stroll to the mansion, when he waved to the journalists gathered there. On Wednesday, Prince Charles had a private agenda.

The mansion where Prince Charles spent the night was built in the 16th century in the Renaissance style and has been renovated by the descendants of the Kalnoky family. Prince Charles had visited the place two years before, during a short private trip that was kept a secret, also invited by Kalnoky Tibor. On that occasion, he walked down the village lanes, chatted with the locals, talked to the local and county authorities and inquired about Szeckler tradition and custom.

On Tuesday, Prince Charles had been seen by President Traian Basescu at the Cotroceni, and by PM Calin Popescu-Tariceanu at the Victoria Palace.

Prince Charles has been to Romania several times. He has an interest in the conservation of historic monuments, mainly those in Transylvania. In the past few years, the prince has been involved in various programmes for the improvement of several Saxon villages founded in Transylvania in the 12th century, some of which are on the UNESCO heritage list.
