Old Empires around Romania

Until 1850, Wallachia and Moldavia were Principalties periodically falling under the influence of one of the three Empires. In 1859 modern ‘Romania’ was established and in 1920, Transylvania was formally absorbed into Romania as a consequence of WW-I and the dismantling of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
