Construction works place Romania 1st within EU

Construction works have placed Romania 1st within the EU for the third consecutive month, with an annual growth rhythm of 32.6 per cent in November 2007 after registering a growth rhythm of 38.1 per cent in October and 40 per cent in September, Rompres informs.

Poland and Slovenia trail our country far behind, with a growth rhythm of 11.1 per cent and 9.1 per cent respectively. Construction works in the EU-27 have registered an annual growth of 0.8 per cent in November 2007, following a 3 per cent growth in October. On the other hand, in the 13-member state Euro Area construction works have registered a 0.8 per cent drop compared to the level registered in November 2006, following an annual growth rhythm of 2.8 per cent in October 2007. In Romania, construction works have registered a growth of 33.2 per cent in November 2007 compared to the same month the previous year. The growth has made itself felt in all types of constructions – non-residential buildings (45.7 per cent), engineering constructions (32.7 per cent) and residential buildings (26.6 per cent). On the other hand, in November 2007 the construction works have dropped by 6.5 per cent compared with October 2007. Compared with the level registered in the previous month, the engineering construction works have registered a drop of 14.3 per cent in November, the non-residential construction works have grown by 2.9 per cent while the residential construction works have grown by 2.5 per cent.
