Lipscani District – Bucharest / August 2011 photos by Dan Dimancescu

Lipscani District – May 2011. There’s a NEW Lipscani transformed into a lively ‘Left bak’ atmosphere. Streets are lined with stone paving. Cafe/restaurants are everywhere. Young crowds are about. Street atrists are appearing. The theatre scene is appearing in restored venues. For a view of Lipscani just two years before: SEE. Photos © by Dan Dimancescu

The district is in central ‘old’ Bucharest along the Dumbovita River. Left to decay and to squatters during the communist and post-communist era, it is now viewed as the up-and-coming ‘chic quartier’.
